Work Location and Duration

  • Duration: 3-6 months, full-time (unpaid)
  • Hours: Interns work five days per week (34 hours) under the supervision of a staff member.

Key Responsibilities

As an intern, you will support preparations for significant events like the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on the Beijing+30 Review, the disability-inclusive business project, and other ongoing initiatives. Your duties will include:

  • Assisting in organizing and supporting large meetings and conferences.
  • Conducting research and completing literature reviews.
  • Summarizing information for use in speeches, analytical papers, and other documents.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to achieve organizational goals.
  • Engaging in activities related to gender equality, women's empowerment, gender mainstreaming, and disability inclusion.

Qualifications and Special Skills

Applicants must meet one of the following educational requirements:

  • Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).

Other key qualifications include:

  • Computer literacy in standard applications.
  • Experience in data analysis and data visualization is strongly preferred.
  • A keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • The ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Studies in social sciences, economics, or other relevant areas.

Competencies

  • Communication: Clear and effective speaking and writing, active listening, and tailoring communication to the audience.
  • Teamwork: Collaborative work to achieve organizational goals, valuing others' ideas, and supporting group decisions.

Due to ongoing construction at the ESCAP premises, internships may be undertaken remotely or in Bangkok, depending on the hiring manager's decision.
